Vocalion

Vocalion Records was founded in 1916 by the Aeolian Piano Company. Early Vocalions were pressed in red shellac. In 1925, the label was bought by Brunswick Records, which was later acquired by Warner Brothers in 1930, and CBS in 1939. CBS discontinued the label around 1940 in favor of reviving the Okeh label.

A later issue Vocalion with the Aeolian name removed. This style was used throughout most of the 1920s and up to the early 1930s when Brunswick (along with Vocalion) was pruchased by ARC. This example dates to 1923.

The same style of label produced after Vocalion was bought-out by Brunswick with minor differences. From Vocalion's 1000 series of Race records. This example dates to 1928.

Vocalion's style of label used in the ealy 1930s, until about 1935, after Brunswick was acquired by ARC. This example dates to 1934.

The mid-1930s 'scroll' style label. This example is a 1936 reissue of a 1928 recording.

A Vocalion produced by the American Record Corporation in the mid to late 1930s. This example dates to 1937.

A late 1930s ARC Vocalion, this style of label was used from around 1937 until 1940. This example is from 1939.
